Segment: 08, Cut Flower Symposium, July 23, 2026, full track
Speaker: Bikash Ghimire, ornamental pathologist, Department of Plant Pathology, University of Georgia; introduced and moderated by Bethany Harris
Duration: 28:31.0 (1711.018 s measured with ffprobe)
Sources: skeleton Bikash_parakeet.srt (315 blocks), text Bikash_whisperkit.srt (85 blocks), names from the GUI export Bikash Ghimire.srt

coverage_check.py was fixed before this run. Its out-of-order test compared an already sorted list, so it could never fire. It now compares blocks in file order. The three zeros above are the first ones this project can trust.
Coverage proof. Early (1:23) high tunnel production trades reduced airflow and high humidity for irrigation control; middle (12:52) Fusarium stem rot is the biggest reported problem in lisianthus; late (23:15) Agdia ImmunoStrips run six to eight dollars each and can be run in the field.
Judgment calls
- Parakeet’s diarization beat the GUI export at every Q&A handoff but two. The GUI puts Ghimire’s answer tails under Bethany Harris at its blocks 75, 78 and 82, each a long WhisperKit block spanning a turn. Parakeet’s shorter blocks cut at the turn. The two Parakeet errors: block 281 “Perfect.” is Harris acknowledging, not Ghimire, and block 315 carries a spurious Speaker 3 for Harris closing the session. Both reassigned on content.
- Parakeet won the tail of block 74. WhisperKit ends “a big epidemics over the years”; Parakeet and the clip pass both have “over there.”
- Two split words cross a block boundary and are Stage 5 joins, not Stage 1 edits. Sclerotinia sclero- / -tiorum at 103 and 104, and “you can do soil” / “solarization” at 100 and 101. Bedrock forbids merging, so the halves join with no space in the prose.
- Block 30 ended on a duplicated word. Parakeet renders “consideration” twice across the 0.24 s overlap of blocks 30 and 31. Block 30 now ends “about the soil” and 31 opens “consideration.”
- FRAC groups are settled from inside the transcript, not from the sound. All three passes render DMI as “GMI” and QoI as “QI.” Block 299 says “DMI fungicide like tebuconazole,” a group 3 material, and block 177 puts azoxystrobin in group 11, which is QoI. The chemistry names the groups.
- Ghimire calls mancozeb a copper-based fungicide at blocks 216 and 309. Mancozeb is an EBDC, not a copper. Recorded as spoken. Stage 4 should not build an item on that pairing.
Flags
Nine items went to a clip sweep, cut on the device with ffmpeg and re-transcribed in the container with faster-whisper large-v3. Seven closed, two remain open.
Closed on audio: coneflower at 271, where both baselines had “cornflower” and the clip disagreed with both; disseminate at 148 against “decimate” and “decimulate”; FRAC code 3 at 176; turfgrass at 249 against “torque grass” and “top grass”.
Closed on sense, because the clip pass shares WhisperKit’s model family and its agreement proves nothing: roguing at 46 against “rotting” and “running”; fludioxonil at 297, where all three passes give “prodioxonil” or “chlordioxonyl” and no such material exists; MilStop at 178; “in the bed” at 74, matching his usage at 148 and 295.
Open, and neither is recoverable without a human listen:
- Block 85
[VERIFY: "copseps"]– a one-word descriptor between “sporangia” and “zoospores” in the Phytophthora video. Three renderings, none a term. - Block 182
[VERIFY: "bacia"]– the second downy mildew host after sunflower. “bakia”, “vaccia” and “bacia” all drop the first syllable, so the genus cannot be read off the sound.
